An enamelled Silver and gold Gelaithong Rian in shape of a double gourd with figure of Guan Yin Bodhisattva, in Buddhism, Guan Yin is synonymous with the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, the pinnacle of Mercy, Compassion, Kindness and Love.

The Gourd is believed to be very popular as charm symbol to ward off evil spirits and disease because its first character(hulu)has the pronuciation as the word ‘Protect’ or ‘Guard’.
(Bodhisattva- being of bodhi or enlightenment, is believed to be one who has earned the right to leave the world of suffering and is destined to become a Buddha, but has forgone the bliss of nirvana with a vow to save all children of god ) like the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion, Guan Yin.
The name Guan Yin is also spelt Guan Yim, Kuan Yim, Kwan Im, or Kuan Yin, is a short form for Kuan-shi Yin, meaning “Observing the Sounds (or Cries) of the (Human) World”.
Her name is believed to mean āOne who hears the cries of the worldā.
She is probably known to be the most valued and honored of all the Gods among the Chinese.

The Late Luang Phor Koon, a Grand Master in Thailand that literally everyone knew about him. He is famous for his blessing by gently knocking the devotees head with a soft stick. The amulets made by him are believed to have miraculous power and he had devotees all around the world.
Whenever, people heard Luang Phor Koon wanted to build a temple or a school, many people would come forward to help. Luang Phor Koon had built many schools, temples and hospitals in Nakon Raachasima. The devotees who go to Wat Ban Rai, be it rich or poor, Luang Phor Koon will meet them personally and bless them. He would specially make time for the poorer devotees, because to Luang Phor Koon, the poorer devotees need to earn a living, and thus their time is more precious comparing to the richer ones who had already have a stable livelihood.
Luang Phor Koon chanted the most amulets in Thailand. Many temples and people would create the amulets and asked him to bless. He seldom rejected anyone who came to him for blessings.
Luang Phor Koon was good in the Wicha of inserting takrut. He would personally insert the takrut under the arm of the devotees, these takrut were believed to be very well proven to protect a person from accidents, Metta and as well as Konkappan (immunity from weapons).
For Almost 20 years, Luang Phor Koon had chanted and inserted takruts, but in the last few years of his life, Luang Phor Koon had stopped due to poor health. However, he still used to meet and bless the devotees who went to Wat Ban Rai to pay respects to him. In Summary Lp Koon was believed to be one of the most influential and highly respected monks in the last 100 years.
